Our curated journey through our nation’s capital took us on an incredible exploration of art and history at some of the country’s best and most notable museums and galleries. We toured the groundbreaking collections at the Hirshhorn Museum; America’s “first modern art museum” the Phillips Collection; the American Presidents Gallery at the National Portrait Gallery; the over-the-top Whistler-designed Peacock Room at the Freer; the National Gallery of Art; and the newly renovated contemporary gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Our tour enabled us to view unique private collections now open to the public: the former home of Marjorie Merriweather Post, Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens and the Philip Johnson designed art-filled home of Carmen and David Kreeger.
Our tour concluded with a visit to the must-see collections and outdoor installations at Glenstone, located just outside of Washington D.C. Our art adventure was enriched with exceptional dining experiences and a stay at the one-and-only Hay Adams hotel.
