Adventures in Art celebrated the end of summer and the beginning of the fall art season with our “Fall for Art in New York City.” Our time together featured special access to the renowned Armory show–showcasing over 230 galleries from more than 35 countries–in advance of its opening to the general public. We explored prominent art galleries in Chelsea with our guide, Adventures in Art’s lead scholar and former director of education at Christie’s New York, Dr. Véronique Chagnon-Burke, whose scholarship and insider’s knowledge of the art world illuminated the artworks and the lives and practices of the featured artists. Our adventure included a tour of prominent Chelsea galleries, as well as the Judd and FLAG Foundations. On the Upper East side, we delighted in the recently renovated Frick Collection (think Gilded Age!) and enjoyed a special look at Rashid Johnson’s compelling work at the Guggenheim. We provided the art, transportation to and from venues, the expert guide, and our welcoming dinner and two lunches. It was a lovely two days in New York and a wonderful segue into the new season.
