Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown (1716–1783), was arguably the greatest and most influential landscape designer of the western world, regarded even by his contemporaries as the ‘Shakespeare of Gardening’.

‘On The Road With Capability Brown’ is a celebration of his achievements. The tour will follow the kind of perambulation that Brown himself would have made on his annual visits to the places he was developing in the North of England, where he designed such masterpieces such as Chatsworth, Scampston and Harewood House. Private visits to the gardens, houses and art treasures and along the way, explore other highlights such as Newby Hall and its exquisite flower gardens; Haddon Hall, renowned for its Elizabethan gardens and the newly opened Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Park in Wakefield.

Stay at two exceptional hotels: Middlethorpe Hall in York (regarded as one of England’s best country house hotels) and the Cavendish Hotel, Chatsworth’s original coaching inn.
